I'm Paul Dlug. I've spent my career building the infrastructure underneath useful AI — knowledge graphs, search, retrieval, distributed systems. The substrate the models sit on, the teams that ship it, the products that run on top.
I've built large-scale platforms for scientific publishing, led engineering teams through the transition from classical search to vector retrieval to agent systems, and spent enough time debugging production retrieval pipelines to have strong opinions about every layer of the stack.
Today I'm the founder and CEO of Nicia AI — the operating system for AI work inside an organization. Version control, deployment, and measurement for the agents a team is going to share, not just the ones one person keeps on their laptop. TypeGraph ↗ is the open-source graph layer it sits on.
Originally Long Island, New York. Now Bend, Oregon. Long runs, long context windows.
